Councillor Reports : Garnock Pool
Posted by drongo on 2008/11/19 12:37:04 (9 reads)
Councillor Reports

Kilbirnie and Beith councillors Jean Highgate and John Bell have demanded KA Leisure rethink their proposals to reduce opening hours and reception cover at Garnock Pool, in a letter to KA Leisure Chief Executive Frank Keddilty. The councillors raise concerns about the security of pool users, the lack of consultation with users groups. They also point out the installation of a new play facility in front of the pool and the opportunity to expand pool usage which would be lost if hours are cut.

Kilbirnie : Save Garnock Pool!
Posted by 3towns on 2008/11/14 21:11:00 (59 reads)
Kilbirnie

The staffing levels have to be cut at Garnock Pool meaning that the small pool will be closed in the mornings and there will be no receptionist. I think that this could be the first step to closure of this important part of the community. Please look for petitions in your local shops and help stop this from happening. THANKS.

JOHN McNEILL
3:7:1929 – 9:10:2008
A VARIED LIFE: NAVY, POLICE AND TEACHING
BY DONALD L REID

John McNeill, 79, of Beith’s Barrmill Road died suddenly at his home on Thursday October 9. For the past two years he has increasingly suffered from dementia and was supported entirely by his dear wife, Maureen, 82, whose spirited and quite remarkable caring also extended to looking after her mother Ellen, 102, who has lived with them for many years. Maureen’s approach to supporting two close family members was bolstered greatly by her own wonderful pawky sense of humour and a firm belief of the importance of looking after family, irrespective of the difficulties involved.
