Gary Steele, club coach, writes: With the league season over, Beith Juniors FC u10s played Kilbirnie CFC Ladeside u10s in a well contested friendly at Valefield on Saturday. Both teams played good passing football in perfect weather with Ladeside making the first chance that was well saved by Beith keeper Declyn Donachy. Beith came into the game with good inter-play from Lewis Steele and Matthew 'Radar' McLean to set up Jamie Packman who shot inches wide. A terrific run by Scott Brown set up William Ferguson and his first-timer went just over the bar. Jamie 'Jambo' Hogg broke up a Ladeside attack and found Radar free on the left wing. He found William Ferguson in the box but his shot was blocked by a defender. More chances came for both sides but good defending and goalkeeping kept the scores level at the end of an exciting first half.
The second half started with Beith on the attack. Adam Graham on the right wing took a slick pass from Scott and swung in a cross for William, only to see his shot saved by the keeper. With Deccers safe hands and Jambo a rock in defence, Ladeside had limited opportunities. Beith played with confidence and great play between Scott and Lewis found Matthew who set up Jamie P to score with a neat left foot flick over the keepers legs to put his team 1 up. Beith added a second after clever play from Radar to beat two defenders and set up Adam who coolly fired past the advancing keeper. It was a well deserved 2-0 win for the boys who are growing in confidence with every match. Well done Beith! Team - Declyn Donachy, Jamie Hogg, Scott Brown, Matthew McLean, William Ferguson, Lewis Steele, Jamie Packman and Adam Graham.
