The Spier's old school grounds have a fair number of fallen trees which are being put to good use by a farmer from Dalry. Over the next few years a Clydesdale horse will be regularly used to extract logs from the woodlands, causing minimal damage to the grounds and providing an interesting spectacle for users of the 'park'. Some of the timber will be cut up on site to produce fence posts, roofing timbers, planks, etc.
